Ichthys –Armacell reels inabig fish
Ichthys is Greek for fish and with the Ichthys
liquefied natural gas project Armacell has
caught a reallybig fish. The Ichthys field is the
second largestoil andgasproject inAustralia’s
historyand is currentlyoneof themost signifi-
cant offshore projects worldwide. The Engi-
neeredSystemsTeamwonagainst tough com-
petition and was awarded the contract for
equipment insulation. For the first time in an
oil and gas project up to50%of the technical
insulation is to be realized with elastomeric
materials – a real milestone in Armacell’s his-
tory.
